“Informed” women think “47 percent” misinformation is fine and women who reveal it are “little girls”

Gov. LePage has been in the news for saying, falsely, that “about 47% of able-bodied people in the state of Maine don’t work.”

So what does the head of the conservative women’s group to whom LePage addressed these remarks, a woman who wrote a book on personal responsibility, have to say?

Does she seek accountability from the governor for making patently false statements? Given her expressed interest in being informed and taking responsibility, you might expect that.

Nope.

Instead, she calls the women who taped the governor “hapless little girls” who “dutifully turned over their recordings.”

Evidently only the women who agree with Ms. Dench deserve to be called “women.” Those who don’t are “little girls” who don’t use their own heads and make their own decisions but instead simply follow orders.

In the future, one hopes this group, the Informed Women’s Network, treats all Maine women with respect and promotes accurate information.
