Taking nominations: Who will play LePage in the movie?

Have you heard about LePage’s “Vaseline” comment today and his insult of Sen. Troy Jackson? (If not, see end of this post.)

A few weeks ago, I wrote:

I’ve heard political news so bizarre that it seemed like if someone wrote it into a script, no one would make that movie. The plot was just too unbelievable.

We may be nearing that time in Maine.

The governor’s latest comments have trigged my interest in casting the lead.

Who should play Paul LePage in a movie?

I’ll start this out by nominating John Goodman. He’s played many parts but I’m thinking in particular of his roles as President Walken in The West Wing and as Walter Shobchak in The Big Lebowski.

If a number of nominations come in, I’ll put this out to vote.

Nominations close Sunday, June 23, 6PM.

More seriously, these sorts of comments (below) make it harder for Republican legislators, who have upheld most of Gov. LePage’s vetoes, to stick with him on the budget.

This is what Gov. LePage said today:

“Senator Jackson claims to be for the people. But he’s the first one to give it to the people, without providing Vaseline,” LePage said.

LePage continued his attack on Jackson. “He doesn’t only have no brains. He has a black heart. And so does the leadership upstairs.”

“People like Troy Jackson,” LePage went on to say, “ought to go back into the woods and cut trees and somebody with a brain come down here and do some work.” . . .

At the end of his interview with WMTW, the reporter suggested to LePage that his Vaseline comment, in particular, might offend some people. “Good,” LePage replied, “It ought to, because I’ve been taking it for two years.”  [Source]
